First Hanoi, Vietnam trip with grandma

Greetings from me to you guys for 2017! Even though it's too late T T ( I am sorry about that)

So to make up for my apology, let me tell you what I had done for the first week of 2017.

I went for a vacation with my grandma. ONLY THE BOTH OF US. I have never imagine that I would actually go for a vacation with her. It is because our age gap is too wide, which would be difficult for us to adjust our daily activities. I was quite worried too. What if she could not adapt to my daily routine? Luckily, we were able to adapt each other's daily routine. Thus, everything went well. I met my vietnamese friend who I longing to see. She brought us around Hanoi... The vacation was really FUN although our age gap is 55 years!

We went to Hanoi for 3 days 2 nights trip by Vietnam Airlines. We stayed at Vietview Hotel located at the central of Hanoi.

I experienced ups and downs there. The first day we landed on Vietnam, I thought that my "beloved" friend would pick us up from the airport. However, she said, "I am so sorry, I could not pick you guys as I am busy. So you guys can take a taxi".

Sure, I am ok with it. However, she does not tell me that there were so many types of taxi in Vietnam! The fares are all rate differently. So my grandma and I were clueless and took the most expensive taxi in the city-private taxi... At first, there was a guy dressed in suit approached and greeted us. He persuaded us to hire him. He spoke english very well. So, we decided to hire him as our taxi driver, since it would be easier to communicate with him and may be, to know about Hanoi better.

He drove us about a few hundreds meters before stopping us at a random place. Then, we were in a complete struck when the driver exchanged another man to be our driver! This new man who was driving us to the city could not speak english at all! He charged us at a very high price and did not  drop us in front of the hotel! When we asked him where was the hotel, he pointed at the wrong direction! What an ASS! Honestly, I almost cursed him in Vietnamese language (coz my friend taught me).  Luckily, I met a few kind Vietnamese who can speak english. They direct me to my destination. Later, my friend went to hotel to bring us out for dinner. The next day well...What happened was my friend twisted her ankle. That was hilarious though (my bad!)

The rest of the days I spent in Vietnam was GREAT! At least there's nothing bad happen to my grandma and I -_-''...

So here's some picture I want to share with you~

This was what I had on the first day for dinner.

Dinner on the first day at the street. This is not Pho, something similar. It taste refreshing! In the middle is organs, such as pork's liver and intestines. I don't eat them... hehehe

For supper~

This was my supper both are glutinous/sticky rice with meat and some pickles, accompanied with 2 ice teas. My favourite is the yellow glutinous/sticky rice!

Second day, I had breakfast at Hotel.

This is the Hoan Kiem Lake (It's much more beautiful than in the picture) One of the famous tourists attractions at Hanoi. My hotel is just nearby...

Lunch!

This is one of the best dish I tried at Hanoi. I dont know what it calls... Basically, you have to put the sauces and herbs into that individual small plate. Then, you eat it at once. um...
This is the spring roll. So you have to grab the rice paper and fill it with any of your favourite fillings. I eat all of them!

Dinner at a fancy restaurant for last day in Hanoi, a restaurant next to our hotel.

This is Pho. Normally, they would add every ingredients into a bowl. However, all of them are prepared separately. You can adjust to your liking.

This is beef cooked in bamboo sticks accompanied with soup and rice.

This is our dessert. Chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream on top and sauce made from vanilla cream and citrus extract or juice. LOVE THE CREATIVITY.
There were so many things that I did but I did not take a picture at all some was due to restriction such as you are not supposed to capture anything if you visit Ho Chi Minh City as it was known as the Holy place. The rest, I just forget to capture that moment like... SHOPPING and SPA which was available in the hotel itself!

For tips:

Do take note to avoid taxi scams, take a taxi which has a rate metre machine. ALWAYS GET READY TO USE YOUR GPS. Google really helps! ALWAYS BARGAIN BEFORE YOU BUY SOMETHING, to get a reasonable price. Try their street foods! STREET FOODS ARE BETTER THAN SOME FANCY RESTAURANTS... stay hotels near old quarter if you love foods and shoppings. Best if you had a VIETNAMESE FRIEND. Enjoy luxurious food, they are cheap!

P.s  Instead of saying#ILOVEYOU challenge to your love ones... My challenge for you is to travel with one of your grandparents and show them how much you care for him/her. (ONLY THE BOTH OF U) #SHAREYOURJOY. I hope you enjoy reading my blog and may the tips help you while travelling!
