2017 Jaan, Singapore
Hi guys!
I want to share with you my first experience at Jaan, a Michelin star restaurant.
Let me tell you a little bit of its background.
It is one of the Asia's 50 top restaurants in 2017 and awarded 1 Michelin star.
It is located at 2 Stamford Road, Swissotel The Stamford.
Jaan is a Modern French Restaurant that will amaze you with its creativity (be it taste or platting).

Why did my brother and I decided to go there for a meal? Well, it is not because we are rich/wealthy. We went there because my brother and his girlfriend would like to treat me a belated birthday meal. (I was in Hong Kong during my birthday). Moreover, it would be beneficial for my brother, who is studying culinary to gain some knowledge by observing some of Jaan's food; understand how or why Jaan become one of the top restaurants in Asia.
We had to wear formal attire: ladylike & gentleman theme. When we arrived at the location, we went to the top floor. A lady approached us and we were soon escorted to our seats. As we entered the restaurant, I could see a beautiful top view scenery from the 70th floor storey. The restaurant was decorated with golden/shiny colored ceilings with unique structure like some kind of "dragon". I went there in the afternoon so there are many natural sunlight shining through the large-glass window. There was a light above all the tables that will shine directly to our food, making our meals look luxurious.
A waiter politely greeted and handed each us of us a menu. After we selected our menu, we were asked if we would like sparkling drinks or water. All of us chose water! Coz I guess we aren't use to drink sparkling drinks. LOL!
This was our first food that arrived, our appetizers!
These are the "fish & chips" canape. From top left, clockwise: Foie gras and truffle macaron, Rabbit spring rolls, Smoked mackerel, romanesco and Charlotte potato |
Truffle bouillon part of "fish and chips" |
We were given breads and butters. |
Heirloom Tomato with burrata artigiana (cheese) and basil |
St. Vincent Asparagus with champagne hollandaise & Joselito |
Egg & Bacon with celeriac (celery root) |
3 half boiled eggs |
Atlantic Cod with Kabocha pumpkin (pumpkin sauce) |
Our main course: Cannon of Lamb with bagna cauda (an Italian dip) |
Toasted bread (i guess), walnuts, cheese and some kind of ice cream |
Pimms Pomelo with lemon lime espuma (forth or foam) and cucumber |
Ivory Caramel with textured chocolate |
That's not it. At the end of the whole course, a waiter will ask if you would like some tea. If you said yes, you would have a cup of tea and complimentary biscuits and tarts. These biscuits and tarts are beautifully placed in a wooden box. Unfortunately, I do not have the picture. T T
This is lunch menu 2017 for 6 course meal |
Service:
Waiters and waitresses are super friendly. They explained every course very well. They would engage with customers, making us feel comfortable.
Tips:
Total sum of money spent on that day was $400++ for 3 people with 6 course meals (that looks like 10 course meals), 1 additional cheese and tea for 3, rounding off to $500. There are other options too. $82 for 4 course meal and $122 for 6 course meal.
Best if you want to bring your love ones come and have some meal to celebrate special occasions like birthday or valentine's day. Don't bring children.
P.S. A worth experience to go. It's a must to try for once in your lifetime. Enjoy ^^
