Malacca Dec 2017 trip

Hi guys,

I AM BACK!

I went to Malaysia during Christmas last year (2017) and would like to share with you my trip!

SG-->Malacca-->JB-->SG just within 2 days 1 night!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I travelled with my friend to Malacca, Malaysia. I had a hella fun time there. Malacca is the perfect short getaway for your weekends. Let me tell you why: You can go shopping, sightseeing and eat good food at the same time! You don't have to travel by any vehicles. Just walk and you reach many tourist attractions.
Where did I stay?
My friend and I stayed a night at Discovery Hostel/Guest House, Malacca. Address: Jalan Bunga Raya No. 7. It was a heritage place. The building was built in 20th centuries and contains many antiques and old photographs such as typewriters and black-white photos. Moreover, It was located at the heart of Malacca. Just a walking distance to almost all the famous tourist attractions.
To actually look for the main entrance was a little rough. I never thought of going to a cafe and get the room keys. It was weird! Usually, you would get room keys at the lobby. However, it was different there. Apparently, you have to go to Discovery cafe (which was right beside the hostel) to check in. It was weird yet unique experience I had there! I did discover a lot of ancient products at Discovery hostel too!
There is free breakfast for everyone who stay there. A guest room with balcony, free breakfast and an accessible place for 61.26SGD ? C'mon! WHY NOT! IT IS SO WORTH IT!
Here are some of the pictures I took at the guest house.
Note: There are many of stairs at the guest house. Not suitable for children and senior citizens to stay. Best place to stay if you are looking for a budget hotel or for adventurous people who are looking to experience Malacca's traditions and cultures.
This is just another common area
Once we reached hotel, we rested for a while before taking a Malacca river tour. From our hostel to the malacca river only takes 10-15 minutes walk! The river tour cost 20++ RM (6.64++SGD) for an adult. The tour took around 20 to 30 minutes. Here is a short video...
Warning: Video is pretty noisy...
Along side of the river, there are a lot of bars. You can have a drink and chill there in the evening.
We went to Jonker street/ market where you can buy almost everything there. Yes, probably everything. But I have to warn you that it was crowded. So take care of your belongings. You will experience human traffic jam! Jonker street/market is also known for Malacca's "Chinatown". The market would only open during Fridays and weekends only. I only manage to take this picture...
How do you get to Malacca?
My friend and I went there by bus; from Singapore to Malacca (directly). We reached there after a 4 to 5 hours bus ride. The cost of bus ticket is 24.20 SGD from Easybook.com. Mine was one way bus ticket to Malacca but you can purchase a round trip ticket.
The next day, we went to Johor Bahru (JB) by bus. The bus from Malacca sentral to JB checkpoint cost 26.85 RM= 8.90 SGD. We went JB just to go for shopping at Paradise and City Square malls!
I am amazed and delighted at how much cheese the restaurant gave us!
By around 8PM, my friend and I went back to Singapore by car from JB checkpoint/bus interchange. It took an hour to reach our destination. The car ride cost SGD25.
Warning: If you take a car ride back to Singapore, is more expensive than a bus ride. Moreover, you have to wait for around 20 to 30 minutes for the car to get ready. Because driver will need to look for other passengers who are going to the same route as your destination. It is not a private car. You are going to share the car ride with other strangers. Moreover, just be careful when you go to Malaysia. Always take care of your belongings and be accompanied with someone who knows Malaysia well. Then, your journey would be a wonderful one. ;)
Good luck!
