Yuen Long, Hong Kong

Hi!

I would like to tell you guys about the experience I had in Yuen Long.

Yuen Long is where you are able to experience the modern and traditional life of the Hong Kongers.

Personally, I fell in love with this district the moment I arrived.

Unlike the city areas, Yuen Long still maintains its traditional buildings such as the shop-houses that are located at the sides of the roads.

There are endless stores, stalls and shopping malls! I walked approximately for 3 hours and still I could not visit half of them!

Street foods are located at various places. So, if you are a food lover, like I do, I highly recommend you to try as many food as possible. Do try their "Xiu Mai" and "Fish balls", they are really good. The tips on eating them is to put the black sauce and chilli. I believe every stall has bottles of sauces that are located on the table, where you would receive your order. You simply squeeze the sauces to your food and there you go! You can enjoy them like I do.

After I had street foods, I went to a Nepalese family restaurant. It was my first time to try Nepalese food. My Nepalese friend brought me there. Honestly, if you asked me on how to get there, I would answer you, "I don't know"... ( I am sorry) T T .Yuen Long is more complicated than what you think. You may get lost. The only thing I remember is that the restaurant was located near a wet market. The restaurant does not have a sign board that indicates it as a restaurant. If my friend were not there, I would thought that the restaurant is actually a store instead.

I was actually amused by the Nepalese food. These dishes have similar tastes of the chinese and indians food.  Since I have been studying in Singapore more than a decade, I get the hang of eating fusion food. I guess Nepalese food is a fusion/combination of chinese and indian dishes. AMAZING! Both of my favourite cuisines are fused!

Then, later we went to a shopping mall to grab dessert.

Haagen-Dazs halloween ice cream

It was Halloween week, so I decided to get an ice cream that can represent halloween... It's cute!! Anyway if you love tea, you should try their milk tea flavour. It is super refreshing! ^^

Tips:

Always bring your camera along. Dont forget to walk around Yuen Long. Be aware of the scorching sun in Summer (June). Best time to visit is Autumn (November) because it would be cooling for you to wonder around the district. Do try out their street food and small restaurants. If you love shopping, Yuen Long is the right place for you! Most of the goods are cheap there, unless you enter into shopping malls (actually depends on what you wanna buy though). Overall, Yuen Long is for those who love to explore and adventurous people. Enjoy! ^^

How to get there:

Just take a MTR towards the Tuen Mun station and stop at Yuen Long station. purple line.
